Malayalam music has produced many renowned singers. From classical singers to movie singers, there are many luminaries in Malayalam music.

Malayalam movie music took some time to evolve. In its initial years Malayalam film music were more influenced by Hindi and Tamil music. But with arrival of singers like K.P. Udayabhanu, Kanukara Purushothaman and A.M. Raja, the Malayalam music scenario changed. These male singers along with female singers like Santha P.Nair, Janaki, P. Leela and P. Susheela helped in popularizing Malayalam film music.
